Holiday parties, client receptions, galas and leadership offsites in a restored 1922 church — up to 200 guests, $3,750 midweek, and suites for 24 upstairs.
Melrose Abbey is a 1922 Gothic church in midtown Kansas City, restored into a private event venue for up to 200 guests. December dates book from September onward, and the full building is $3,750 Monday through Thursday — the nights most companies actually want. You get both event floors, the balcony for cocktails, the bar and the warming kitchen, for 14 hours, with one event per day.
Because people remember it. A hotel ballroom is a neutral box; a restored 1922 sanctuary with a 35-foot suspended dome, original stained glass and a marble bar is the thing employees photograph and post. For a client reception, an award night or a donor dinner, the room is doing persuasive work a conference centre cannot.
Yes, and almost no venue in Kansas City can offer it. Guest suites inside the building sleep 24, so a leadership offsite, board retreat or planning session can run all day in the building and everyone stays upstairs. No shuttles, no scattered hotel bookings, no one drifting away at 6pm. See the hotel page for how the suites work.
It is one of the strongest uses of the building. A gala lives or dies on whether the room makes donors feel the evening mattered, and a landmark church with a vaulted dome does that on arrival. The balcony works for a silent auction or a VIP reception while the main floor is set for dinner, and the whole building is exclusively yours.
The venue is $3,750 Monday through Thursday, $7,500 Friday and Sunday, and $8,500 Saturday, for exclusive use of the full building for 14 hours. Bar packages are priced separately, and catering, staffing, rentals and AV are arranged for your event. We will give you the real all-in range before you commit rather than after.
Earlier than most companies expect. Kansas City holiday dates are largely decided in September and October, and the best weekday slots go first. If December is the target, start the conversation now — and if you are reading this late in the season, ask anyway, because weekday availability moves.
Tell us what your event needs and we will confirm exactly what applies — AV, catering arrangements, bar service and insurance requirements are all handled as part of booking, and we would rather give you precise answers for your event than a generic list here.
Tours take about thirty minutes and cover both event floors, the balcony and the suites upstairs.
