A Modern Revival of A Masterpiece
Founded in 1922, Melrose Abbey, formally known as "First Swedish Church” was built by Swedish immigrants as a place of worship. The building, with its beautiful architecture, has a rich history in the city with hundreds of wedding ceremonies conducted in it. The church has deteriorated over the decades. In 2022, exactly at the 100th birthday, renovations were started with the goal to restore it to its original beauty while offering luxury space with quality lodging.

Timeless:
The owners of the venue are local husband and wife who felt that Kansas City deserves better. When many venues are selling what’s “trendy” from a “rustic farmhouse” wedding to another “industrial” warehouse box, we wanted to honor the space and make it timeless so whether a wedding photographer is capturing photos in the 1920s or the 2020s, they are beautifully timeless, unlike the cringy trendy wedding photos of the 1980s.

Weddings can be hectic! We want our guests to remember it as a once-in-a-lifetime experience rather than another fun event. Our lodging offers the wedding party, families, and close friends to stay together and celebrate for multiple days rather than having to deal with multiple hotel bookings and endless logistics. We want you to remember both, the wedding day, but also, the days before and after! Our lodging accommodation simplifies the process so that the logistics are less, and the memories are more.
