Melrose Abbey hosts corporate and non-profit events, holiday parties, quinceañeras and sweet sixteens, engagement and cultural celebrations, fundraisers and galas, milestone birthdays and anniversaries, and photo and film shoots. The building is a 1922 Gothic church in midtown Kansas City with a 35-foot suspended domed ceiling, original stained glass, two event floors and a balcony, and it holds up to 200 guests.
The full building is $3,750 Monday through Thursday — the same 14 hours, 9am to 11pm, and the same two floors a wedding gets. Friday and Sunday are $7,500 and Saturday is $8,500. Bar packages are priced separately. Most non-wedding events book midweek, which is when the building is most available and least expensive. Shorter bookings are welcome: the building is also available by the hour at $600, with a five-hour minimum, which suits a corporate party, a shoot, or a celebration that does not need the full day.
Up to 200 guests. The ceremony floor seats 200 beneath the dome, the reception floor is one level away, and the balcony overlooks the sanctuary and is normally used for cocktails. Because there is one event per day, the whole building is yours for the full 14 hours.
Often, yes — particularly Monday through Thursday. Weekends book far in advance for weddings, but weekdays are the part of our calendar with real availability, and a corporate party or a photo shoot can frequently be arranged within weeks rather than months.
